2,554 days

2,554 days ago (6 years, 364 days) I met Matthew Stanford. 2,554 days later he asked me something, well that I had been hoping he would ask for about 2,000 of those days.

“Will you marry me?”

That is right folks, on this very day, Matthew asked me to be his wife. Is this something we both knew was coming, yes! But that does not take the thrill and excitement out of it. Tomorrow will be exactly 7 years since I met him and I couldn’t be happier to now call myself his fiancé. Today has been a day filled with so many emotions. I know a lot of my family and friends want to see pictures and hear the story so here goes the long and detailed version…

This morning Matthew and I had decided to go to the late service at church because we were going to go eat lunch with his roommate and his roommate’s girlfriend, Turner. But he told me that due to Alex’s commitment to the basketball team they couldn’t eat until noon. When we got out of church Matthew received a phone call and and said that Alex and Turner were running really behind and so we should do something to kill the time. We were driving down Jack Warner Pkwy, the road by the river, and on this road there is a nice park and running trail. (Matthew had been talking about how he wanted to go there sometime and maybe run but he had never been there) So he pulls off and says “lets just walk around here because I want to check it out”…I say okay and precede to tell/show him how I chunked Elizabeth’s Frisbee into the river one afternoon. We keep walking and talking about what running distance it might be and yadda yadda. We decide to turn around and head back and as we go I realize Matthew has stopped and so I turned around and BAM.

He was down on one knee, at that time I gasped and kept saying “OMG” “if this is a joke it is not funny” “is this for real?”..he said some very sweet words and pulled out the most gorgeous ring. I then grabbed the ring out of the box (don’t mind me, haha!) and then realized “oh wait, I think you are supposed to put it on” and gave it back to him to place on my hand. I teared up when he was talking to me but then fell into a state of shock.

We have been together for 7 years (tomorrow) and I have been dreaming about this day forever, HOLY COW, it just happened…it really just happened!! I called my mom and then was so flustered I decided I would call everyone after we ate.

We arrived at the cypress inn and Turner, our friend was waiting outside, she took our picture and said she would take us to the table her and Alex had got. We walked in only to find my family, his family, and our close friends from here in Tuscaloosa there waiting on us. I flipped out, I was so surprised about this and so glad to get to celebrate with them all.

I am still not sure that it really happened and now…it’s time to for real plan a wedding, no more hypothetical scenarios!! sorry this is sooo long but here are some pictures…
