Spooktacular Cupcakes!

So this weekend one of my best friends from high school came to visit me for a couple of days and we decided, in honor of Halloween, to make some festive cupcakes.

Here are the first batch of standard size cupcakes and the handful of mini’s that we made.

A glimpse of the materials…

This was supposed to be the magic ingredient, this was the “first batch”…well because I screwed up and we had to re-do it.

100_2361

Yep…that would all be in the frosting..every bit of it. Just call me Paula.

100_2362

Here would be the beginning of the second batch.

100_2363

BOO! These were my favorite and hopefully you can tell they are supposed to be ghosts.

The decorating process…

Ghost and spider webs.

100_2367

I was not even going to attempt a spider.

Just the norm

The gang altogether…Happy Halloween, and let me know if you would like spooktacular cupcakes!

A Weekend At Home.

Last weekend Matthew and I ventured home for the first time since Labor Day weekend. The day before we left I was attacked by the stomach bug and it was not a friendly passing. At times, I was not sure I would make it and just wanted to be at home. It is not any fun to be sick and away from your mom who you are wishing was taking care of you. I was beginning to get some life back into me so the weekend went on as planned. (not so much for Matthew, I kindly passed him the bug which attacked him on Friday and Saturday…oops. =( )

On Saturday we took Bode to a pumpkin patch and picked out a pumpkin for ourselves.

100_2334

Who in the world actually buys this pumpkin? I mean really…

100_2335

So I actually thought this array of pumpkins was really pretty and would make a great table setting or display with the various colors.

100_2338

This is the pumpkin that I really liked, we didn’t end up getting it but I sure liked it.

100_2336

Mary and I chilling on the little pumpkins…we about squished them all.

Mary and the pumpkin that I wanted to buy.

100_2340

Aren’t we cute?

100_2341

Look at that big ole thing…

100_2343

Now I thought these were interesting and could again be a super cute thanksgiving display and/or table setting.

100_2346100_2347

As I mentioned before the point of this trip was to take Bode to the pumpkin patch…mind you, he is 10 weeks old. So let me tell you he was pumped…just look at the picture above.

100_2348

Still thrilled…but sure is a stinkin cute “mommy’s little pumpkin”

100_2349

Oh Bode bean, he loves his aunt Lizzy!

The new little family… and a second attempt to get an individual picture.

100_2352

Hey blue eyed boy..

100_2353

My family is nuts…

I think this was probably the best of the pictures too bad I had the bad angle. =) Overall it was a great weekend and Bode had grown so much, I cannot wait to get my hands back on him.

Belated Birthday

My 21st birthday was on October 4th. So the belated title is referring more to my lack in posting about it rather than my celebration. I actually celebrated it early with family and friends because Matthew and I were in Mexico from the 3rd-9th (which encompassed my birthday). It is hilarious the reactions you get when you tell people that it is your 21st birthday...like "ohhhh, I bet you had fun.." or "ohhh, I remember my 2st, well kinda." hahaha! Coming from the girl who doesn't drink it was quite an anti-climactic birthday in that realm.

My mom and step-mike came up the weekend before we left to celebrate and attend the big Alabama vs. UF game. (which I might add was one of the most exciting games and fun games I have attended to here at UA). Friday night we went to eat, and after many obstacles of wait times, we finally settled in at The Cypress Inn. It was quite delectable.

Then after we came back to the apartment and had some very good cake and opened presents.

This was the cake my mom got from the Publix bakery back home in Fort Walton Beach, it was Chocolate on chocolate and I loved it.

Great action shot, I might add.

The "2" candle had broken before being placed onto the cake and we tried to melt them back together and as I was about to blow out the candle I realized the match was still stuck in the "2".

The madre and I before dinner.

Elizabeth (the rooms) and Maria. Two of my favorite people. =)

Lemonada? Yes please...

The first night we were in Puerta Vallarta everyone recommended that we try the lemonade..or lemonada..So we did... and let me just tell you that it was beyond delicious. So much so that every night following I ordered it at every restaurant. It is almost like a lime-ade more than a lemonade but it also includes some form of carbonation and who knows what else but i LOVED it. I took a couple pictures of the various versions that I was served.

This glass was so cute..

Probably my favorite one...

Yummy... I had at least 2 glasses (i think) every night. It was very different at first but then I became addicted it seemed. Just for a future reference... if you are ever in the area, try it out!
